Finally, the leaves are beginning to turn, there is a slight crispness in the air, and football season is in full swing. Autumn, my favorite time of year. And when your back yard cook out gives way to a game day gathering to full on tailgate experience, this sweet treat is sure to be a crowd pleaser:
The "Any Given Sundae" is made with scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped topping then drizzled with gel icing in your team's colors (I am a Steelers fan, so I went with Black and Gold). The sundae is then garnished with a football shaped brownie, complete with laces. To make these i used the original Hershey's Brownie Recipe. I substitute Hershey's Special Dark Coco Powder when I make them. I bake the brownies per the recipe directions and allow them to cool completely. I then cut them into football shapes using a tin football shaped cookie cutter.
For the icing, use the same dark coco powder to make Wilton Chocolate Butter Cream Icing. Incorporate all the ingredients and mix well before adding the coco powder. Scoop out approximately 3 table spoons of the 'white' icing and set aside. Add the coco powder and finish mixing icing. Ice the football shaped brownies with the chocolate butter cream and then pipe on the "laces" with the reserved white icing using a piping bag. Enjoy!
