Blue Mason Jars + Composting = LOVE
I liked the idea of using a giant ball jar to collect compostable items sink-side. I also definitely like the idea of composting (we just got a new earth maker compost machine and I am totally stoked about it). But, I kinda couldn’t get over this looking like a jar of garbage on the counter. I looked at some compost pales and they seemed silly, overpriced and not much more appealing---a little trash can on the counter is slightly prettier than actual trash, but still.
Any who, I was inspired by these following posts from I Do It Yourself and Martha Dahling And remember a jar of light aqua blue paint I had hanging out in the basement from my farm table refinishing project. I poured a small dollop of paint in the jar and rolled it aorund to coat the inside. This is the result : Before

After

The finished jar is reminiscent of the vintage aqua mason jars, but is opaque, so it hides the compostables and looks SO CUTE on my counter. Hooray!
