Garden Markers/Table Numbers/Escort Card DIY
This turned out to be a fun little
project using some junk I had in the basement. I used some low
gauge tin sheeting (flashing maybe?), some old metal garden stakes,
my color printer, and some packaging tape to make these adorable
plant markers. I'm going to use them in my container garden,
because labeling the obvious makes me happy, but they would make
great table numbers (tucked down in a potted plant or ball jar full
of wild flowers) or even escort cards (in an apothecary style glass
gar with one lovely bloom) for an outdoor wedding or other garden
party.

I searched flckrfor images of vintage seed
packetsor vegetable crate labels to find the
images I used.. Flicker is now a treasure trove of royalty free
vintage images…I could go on and on, but just take some time to
search around for yourself. You won't be disappointed. The tin I
used was thin enough that I was able to just bend it back and
fourth to 'cut' it into the size I wanted. Then I attached my
printed images with clear packing tape - enough to cover the entire
piece of tin and cover the edges-they were a little
sharp.

I used a hammer, nail, and an old scrap
bit of wood to make a small hole at the top and bottom of each tin
and then slid the garden stake through the holes.
Lovely!
